The quality of the environment is an important part of product quality. Fujifilm has taken on the responsibility for the environment within the entire developmental cycle of the product, through to production and the final disposal of waste. Apart from the strict adherence to high quality, the most modern technology and high benefit to the user, the activities of Fujifilm distinguish themselves also through an exemplary attitude towards the environment.
As a member of the Environmental Health and Safety Committee Meeting, Fujifilm together with other companies of this branch are creating standardized data sheets for the whole range of products worldwide. From these sheets, customers can understand the environmental and relevant safety data of the corresponding chemicals, materials or machines.
Years ago, the company decided to certify all production plants according to the worldwide environmental standard DIN EN ISO 14001. This has the goal of recording, evaluating and finally preventing the adverse effects of a company on the environment, by management methods making provisions for environmental protection. The six main elements of the standard are: environmental policies of the company, planning of environmental protection-measures, the realization of these measures, their assessment, an assessment at managerial level as well as a continuous improvement of environmental protection. Today nearly all production sites of the company are certified.
In the case of single-use cameras, Fujifilm has carried out recycling very consistently. Fujifilm has built a 'see-through factory' in which customers can observe the recycling of disposable cameras. Fuji Magnetics in Kleve, Germany also belongs to those sites where Fujifilm recycling is carried out.
